If I'm going to be able to roll the qayaq, I'll need one of these: a Tuilik. The Chris Cunningham book,
Building the Greenland Kayak, has plans for sewing your own. There are several companies that make Gore-TeX or neoprene tuiliks, but they are quite expensive. This should keep the water out, and is roomy enough to wear insulating layers underneath if I start doing cold weather paddling.
