Dying, shrinking, and coating

Things are getting down to the wire.  We plan the class launch on Tuesday.  Today, in one long session we dyed, then shrunk the skin on the Greenland Kayak.  We use a heat gun to shrink the skin up tight one last time.  (We've been sewing it on when damp, so its usually pretty tight when dry, anyway.  In fact, the tightness made installing the cockpit rim a bit difficult, though things worked out fine.)

We coated with the two-part polyurethane all in one continuous process.  A break after the second coat, for things to tack up a bit was followed with a third coat to even out the coating.  Eric 'babysat' the boat after I left,  catching and leveling any drips and runs.

Tomorrow we will turn the boat and do the deck coating.
